Hawthorn Leaves and Berries
© 2006 Glasu
Hawthorn forms a major component of native hedgerows in the UK. For some time, reports have been made of it's distinctively scented flowers or "may blossom" appearing much earlier in the year. This is because many hawthorn seeedlings are being grown from seed which is not of local provenance, rather the seed originated from hawthorn trees on continental Europe, in very different environments.
